Erections are a normal part of life, and not always sexual. They are often spontaneous, and most occur in a man's sleep when he is totally unaware. It is a medical fact that even fetuses, in the womb, get erections, so I find this society's and even nudist environments' prejudice against erections to be quite mystifying. In nudism, erections are rare, because it is a non-sexual atmosphere. However, in my opinion, a man should not be afraid if he gets an involuntary erection. After all, the nudist mantra is "body acceptance." Yet the nudist insistance on taking a dip in the pool or covering one's penis with a towel when an erection develops is the height of hypocrisy. Where's the so-called "body acceptance"? In and of themselves, erections are of no moral consequence. Just having an erection is not behaviour any more than breathing is behaviour. In many North American jurisdictions, it is illegal for "human male genitals..." to be "...in a discernibly turgid state, even if completely and opaquely covered." That's right; in Western culture, even when fully dressed, if you get a boner you can be arrested. With all the fear erections bring up, it's no wonder the pharmaceutical industry is making a fortune on medicines to treat Erectile Dysfunction.

Note on "AWAKENING (Self-Portrait)": As I've said, erections are often spontaneous, many occuring during sleep. This picture depicts how my erection often wakes me up in the morning. It doesn't have to lead to anything sexual. An erection is just a wonderful feeling, in and of itself, and is just one example of God's creative genius.
